~ Purpose ~

The purpose of this course is to promote the safety of personnel working at height across various industries, with particular emphasis on maritime environments. Working at height presents significant risks, which can be further increased at sea by vessel movements such as rolling, pitching, and heaving. Applying appropriate safety techniques, selecting suitable equipment, and using the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are essential to preventing falls, reducing the risk of serious injuries, and protecting lives.

~ Objectives ~

The main objective of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge required to recognise activities that qualify as work at height and understand the hazards associated with such tasks. Participants will learn how to select, inspect, and correctly use appropriate safety equipment and PPE, including fall prevention and fall protection systems, in accordance with established procedures. The course also covers hazard identification, risk assessment, safe working practices, and the importance of checking equipment before use. Particular emphasis is placed on recognising unsafe conditions and exercising Stop Work Authority whenever an activity presents an unacceptable risk to personnel.
