Shipboard Safety Officer (SBSO) - ONLINE

~ Purpose ~

The Shipboard Safety Officer Course is designed for personnel who are currently serving or preparing to serve as safety officers or safety representatives on board ships. Safety is a fundamental priority in all maritime operations and must never be neglected or underestimated. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to promote a strong safety culture, support compliance with established procedures, and contribute to the continuous improvement of onboard safety standards.

~ Objectives ~

Upon completion of the course, participants will gain an understanding of effective safety management practices and their application in the maritime industry. Topics include hazard identification, risk assessment, safety rounds and inspections, monitoring compliance with safety procedures, and organising and participating in safety committee meetings. Participants will also learn about the responsibilities of a shipboard safety officer, incident prevention, and the importance of reporting unsafe acts and conditions. Particular emphasis is placed on proactive safety management, personal accountability, and the consistent application of established procedures to prevent accidents and protect everyone on board.
