Basic H2S Training (Awareness) - ONLINE

~ Purpose ~

This training course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the hazards associated with hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) and the knowledge required to work safely in environments where this toxic gas may be present. It is intended for seafarers and offshore personnel who may be exposed to H₂S during their work. The course covers the physical and chemical properties of hydrogen sulphide, its potential health effects, methods of hazard identification, appropriate protective measures, and fundamental emergency response and rescue principles.

~ Objectives ~

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to recognise potential H₂S hazards, understand the risks associated with exposure to toxic atmospheres, and apply appropriate measures to minimise exposure. They will also gain an understanding of gas detection, the correct use and limitations of personal protective equipment, emergency procedures, and the importance of following established safety protocols. Particular emphasis is placed on recognising potentially dangerous conditions, responding appropriately to H₂S alarms, and understanding that rescue attempts must only be undertaken by properly trained and equipped personnel to avoid further casualties.

Everybody with the potential possibility of exposure to the H2S, especially workers on offshore - onshore oil rigs, ships in their surroundings (suppliers), mines, food processing factories...
